On/t/schuld is an exhibition that explores the weight of an inherited WWII past, visually narrating the tension between personal and historical perspectives. Poetry, photography and historical context intertwine, inviting visitors to look beyond the simplicity of right and wrong.
The graphic identity reflects this duality. Delicate typography gives voice to Boris Wanders’ poems about his grandfather’s ‘wrong’ past, while structured fonts ground the historical narrative. A subtle colour palette integrates with the museum’s surroundings, and Judith Lechner’s photography adds emotional depth, portraying the confrontation with concealed histories.
Layered visuals, light and shadow, and spatial composition evoke a journey between obscured and revealed truths. References to the local peat swamp—where emotions and secrets lie dormant—deepen the immersive experience, inviting reflection on memory and history.
